About Life at Grassy's Grass Fed

Professional Local Farm

The farm, 'Wattle Valley', is located 20km west of Yass in the southern tablelands of NSW. Originally used for wool growing, Wattle Valley moved to produce free range lamb in the early 2000's. Come 2009 Ian had developed an interest in producing free range eggs and thus Grassy's Grass Fed was born. From humble beginnings of 250 hens we are currently running just over 3000 hens housed in 12 trailers spread over 4 large grassy paddocks.

Why 'Grassy's Grass Fed'?

The Story Behind the Name

People often ask about the reason the egg business is called 'Grassy's Grass Fed Free Range Eggs', so I think an explanation is needed. Ian, who is the owner of Grassy's grew up on Wattle Valley and has lived here his whole life. Somewhere along the road of life he was given the nickname 'Grassy'. So when he was tasked with naming the egg business the idea came to throw the nickname in there too. So to translate it to those of you who know don't know Ian by Grassy, it reads 'Ian's Grass Fed Free Range Eggs'. Which may make more sense but definitely lacks a bit of the charm.
